It’s been a week since I stepped foot on my first ever cruise, a cruise that just happened to have 2900 other Block Heads and New Kids on the Block. It was a vacation with 5 added bonuses. I can’t even take myself out of cruise mode long enough to make it through classes at college right now because it was THAT EPIC. I am telling my story in several posts because there is just so much to cover.
I flew out the day before very early in the morning to avoid ridiculous layovers and it worked very well! I landed in Miami at 11 AM and headed straight for my hotel, The Viceroy. This hotel is farther away from the downtown party scene but I was okay with that because I didn’t have a lot of money to spare anyway. The Viceroy however was absolutely worth every cent. The decor was asian and it was perfection! The bed was like a giant marshmallow that I never wanted to leave!
My roommate and I had dinner in the hotel and it was so very good. The Gnocchi was to die for!
The next morning we woke up super early to get to the port ASAP because that line was going to get long really fast. We got there at 8:30 AM and right away my roommate ran into friends she knew. TONS of people came up to her for hugs. I am new, I don’t know a lot of people so for me I was happy to take pics for everyone. I did get a couple pics in though including a selfie, group pic and a pic with the infamous Mark Porter!
We were in line about an hour and then it started moving and we were inside, which took another while, and we got checked in with our ID’s and things including security. After that is was another line and this was to get our sail cards and bracelets. The bracelets tell you where to sit at the shows and which lifeboat area to be in. Our seats for the show were in the balcony which kind of sucks. They were in the center so it wasn’t horrible but yeah, they didn’t know we were there. I am spoiled, I did Top Shelf at the concert and want to see their faces every time now! #Spoiled
Before I knew it NKOTB entered the building and were boarding the ship! I got to see my main man Jordan Knight shove his face right to the glass! Then as he was on the catwalk I got on a chair and waved to him and and he waved back. I nearly died and hadn’t even boarded the ship.
Finally it was time to board and I was freaking out, but in a good way, it was my first time for everything! We got to the ship and I got real giddy at the sheer excitement of stepping into a floating palace. We quickly found our cabin on the 7th floor and got busy decorating our door and waited for our 3rd roommate, Diana to arrive. Let me just say I have made a friend for LIFE in this girl. She was there for me when I was alone on the cruise and backed me up when anything went wrong. I LOVE her.
Our door was a casino theme and all the casino decorations including the Roulette wheel were provided by the company I work for, Birthday In A Box!
Then it was time to get ready for the safety drill, which is needed but so monotonous to people that have sailed 7 times. But before the drill I got my first NKOTB selfie ever with the sweetest guy ever, Jon Knight! He took two pics and both ended up blurry but I don’t care, I am just happy he was happy to take the time!
Right after the drill is the Sail away party and basically as soon as they let us go we raced up 6 floors to the Lido to get a good spot. I lost my roommate but ended up right by the stage. When the guys came out I began to feel like I was in a dream and this was just the beginning.
And guess who took my phone for a selfie at Sail Away?
After sail away was the game show, The Match Game. To be completely honest the best part of the show was Joe coming out shirtless. It wasn’t near as funny as past shows I saw on YouTube. Since I had early dining I ate before the game show then after went to change for the first theme party, 80’s Prom!
Donnie wins for best costume for sure!
I think I crashed at 4 am that night. I will say earlier in the day I got scared because I could feel the boat moving. I think I gave myself a panic and Diana gave me a few meds and taking them all together I think made me more sick so I had about an hour where I felt like poop. But after that I was great for the rest of the entire cruise!
..Stay tuned for Part Two!
