Uncle Ben’s Whole Grain White Rice

My family gave up white rice and breads quite a while ago. I always look for whole grains in all the dry foods I buy my family. We are trying to eat healthier and that means cooking a LOT of rice. In particular we love chinese food. I am not a fan of soy sauce so I don’t use it. My chinese cooking is pretty healthy by most standards! My KIDS actually LOVE chinese food. They really do event though its hard to get them to eat healthy especially brown foods or veggies they really like rice.

Mom Central, on behalf of Uncle Ben’s sent me some boxes of Whole Grain White Rice and some aprons to share with my friends.

I can’t share my cooked rice with you but I can share the photos I made with this yummy rice. It tasted like normal rice only its whole grain. So you can have white rice and have it be whole grain at the same time and I love that! This rice cooks up nice and fluffy too so I find it great for recipes. My recipe for my chicken stir fry is easy.

Ingredients:

  • Frozen stir fry veggies
  • Meat of choice (I like chicken breast cut small)
  • 2 C. Rice
  • Sesame Oil for the pan
  • La-Choy Sweet and Sour sauce (optional)

Cook your rice ahead of time and add it to the other ingredients in a hot skillet and stir until your meat is done. OR if you have an electric skillet, throw everything in that including the water and put the lid on. The steam will cook the food. I TOLD you it was easy!

As a self proclaimed foodie I can say this rice gets a thumbs up because it tastes good, feels hearty and looks really beautiful when its cooked. You can get this wonderful rice at your local grocers beginning July 10th 🙂 At just $2.99 you can pick up a few of the varieties: Long Grain, Broccoli Cheddar, Chicken, Taco Style, Sweet Tomato and Garden Vegetable!
