I participated in Mom Blog Tour Sweets & Snacks Expo (#MomBlogTourFF) on behalf of Wendy’s Bloggers. I received Moon Cheese products to facilitate my post, but my opinion and creative content are my own.
Confession: I am a snacker. I graze, it’s just what I do. My stomach can’t handle large meals these days. The problem is I am trying to cut our refined sugars and carbs as much as is healthy for me and that means I have had to embrace a food I really REALLY don’t like…. Cheese. I know, a couple readers are thinking WHAT? Who doesn’t like cheese? That would be me. I don’t like the aftertaste of dairy in any form including ice cream. But I had to embrace it because it is one of the best sources of protein with my extremely meat-limited diet. Therefore I need snacks that won’t derail my food lifestyle. Enter Moon Cheese. Moon Cheese is an all natural Gluten Free snack made of 100% cheese. It is CRUNCHY, as in crunchy cheese. Mind blowing, right?
Moon Cheese is actually the leftover pieces from normal cheese processing that usually get discarded, but the smart guys behind the brand found a way to use it by dehydrating it, and in doing so, created this puffy crunchy delight! I’m sure the process is more complicated than that but you get the gist. The guys were really nice when I met them at the Sweets and Snacks Expo in May.
Why do I put this new snack in the Healthy Snacking Category? Because for one, it is 100% cheese, that’s it. This means it fits any low carb and low glycemic diet plans, and for two, it has 4 grams of protein per serving. Even for someone like me who doesn’t like cheese, how can you go wrong with basically the easiest, portable, on the go hit of protein without all the carbs and junk attached to other snack foods?
