Long time readers (I love you!) will remember that time I went to college for culinary. It’s been a few years since I graduated and to be honest I haven’t done a lot of recipes on the blog since. This is because I feel like every recipe idea I have has already been done and though my photo skills are prime, there’s already something on Pinterest. I felt defeated. I thought about something new and wanted to try one of those food delivery services and wow. I wanted to align with a company that has organic food because it is important to me. Sun Basket is a company that provides organic produce, hormone free meats and responsibly caught seafood.
When you sign up for a plan (and they have several), you get to choose the recipes you want in your box. For me, they let me choose 3 recipes, and there was enough food for 2 of us for sure, maybe a 3rd. The boxes are around $12 each, you’re looking at about $60 a month roughly for a couple people. They ship a box with lots of ice packs and then the recipes are in their own paper bags in the box, meats located below a cardboard divider.
You also get the recipe cards. I am admitting now that I kept all 3 cards after I cooked the foods because I loved them so much. I like that the chef wrote tips on the cards, like how to quickly peel a cantaloupe. I find that handy for people that might not even know how to peel one. Also none of the recipes were hard to do. The best part? EVERY SINGLE INGREDIENT is premeasured and marked clearly. You have to use your own oil, water, salt and pepper but everything else is there!
And because I post in full disclosure, remember that not only was I professionally trained as a chef but I am also a photographer (my loves, food and photography <3 ) so your results might not look like this on the plate but they should TASTE almost the same because the recipe you get is really easy to follow and concise.
Roast Chicken with Eggplant-Melon Salad (I served the eggplant on the side)
