Welcome to the Scholastic Children’s Dictionary Blog Tour! Scholastic asked me to be one of 15 bloggers on a tour showcasing the great Children’s Dictionary and also to give one of my lucky readers a great prize!
About the dictionary:
With exciting features, accessible definitions and helpful illustrations and photographs throughout, the new Scholastic Children’s Dictionary is the essential resource that belongs in every home, classroom and library.
The 2010 edition of the Scholastic Children’s Dictionary features more than 1,000 full-color photographs, simple sentences, illustrations, and diagrams as well as newly commissioned maps of the world, the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Central America. The dictionary also includes guides on grammar, punctuation and idioms and simplified pronunciations created with real kids in mind!
My kids never really had a children’s dictionary before so when it arrived here I was really surprised. Its big and FULL of color. I absolutely love the pictures that accompany some of the terms. My daughter spent the better part of the afternoon just engrossed by looking up words! I am proud to have a nice dictionary for her to use for her own school needs !
Scholastic asked me to share a story about a memorable school field trip and I had the perfect one to share! It was 4 years ago. My son was in 2nd grade then and my daughter was just three years old. It was the first time either child would be going to the zoo! I decided to drive because I wanted to take my daughter too and we went to Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek, MI. It was such a great zoo! I loved that we could walk around just the three of us to look at everything. The only bad part is because it was a class thing we had limited time. I could have stayed ALL day. I love animals and wildlife! We got some amazing photos as well! This field trip was a turning point in my life because it was at the zoo that I decided I wanted to photograph wildlife someday. I want to go on Safari. I would love to work for National Geographic covering the wild animals!
(wow they look so young here!)

The wonderful people at Scholastic provided me with the Scholastic Children’s Dictionary and will furnish the prize to the winner. Opinions are my own and not influenced by any means, however, I did receive a stipend for my time as a participant in this blog tour.
