The Big “P” #KotexMom

I am blessed to have a beautiful 9 year old daughter. At this time, her mind is still filled with make believe and stuffed animals and being a KID. Sadly, I know she can’t stay that sweet adorable kid much longer and all too soon will come the day when she starts puberty. And gets her first……period. I am 34 years old and still don’t like talking about it myself I personally think that women should never have to go through them unless they are married and actively trying to have children. And after childbearing is over they should stop. But this comes from a mom who is biased due to painful heavy periods and more than one surgery on her girly parts inside.

My daughter I hope will not have those same problems. I haven’t had the big menstruation talk with her and to be completely honest, I don’t want to! I don’t want to crush her childhood spirit and sense of being a kid by telling her she is going to have to deal with a pain in the rear problem every month for the next 30 years. But I HAVE to. Kids are hitting puberty at earlier ages these days and It is not uncommon for girls as young ans 8 to get their period. I hope my daughter doesn’t get hers for a good 3 or 4 more years. But I will have the talk with her and I won’t be alone. I have been chosen as a U by Kotex Ambassador for Mom Central, and me and my daughter will have help getting through this rite of passage. We’ll receive information and products to help us communicate about the subject and I will hopefully not feel so scared to talk about it. I am not in denial but I want my baby girl to stay little!

This video for girls with Aimee Teergarden is a little story on how her mom really helped her know what to expect and how helpful it was when her friend went through it.. Its good to hear from teens on the subject since hearing it from mom isn’t as cool!

I am sure I will have questions, as will my daughter. I have never used Kotex for myself so this will be new to both of us, learning about the products. over the next six months I will be posting information and news on my journey to this task at hand. I really don’t wanna have the “talk” with her yet but I know I have to. I hope the program gives me the courage!

I wrote this review while participating in a Brand Ambassador Campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of U by Kotex Tween and received products to facilitate my post and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
