Do you ever walk through the home appliance stores and find the perfect appliance and then get to the register and sign up for the extra insurance to fix it if it breaks? Imagine if your entire home came with a home warranty!
I can tell you this. We got a front loader washer and dryer about 2 years ago. It had to be fixed in the first week. Then again. This is the dryer. The door is broken now, apparently a screw came out! BUT because our paid service sucks, and the guy that bought the set was too cheap to extend the mfg warranty, the repair is going to be unpleasant. ALSO we have an energy star dishwasher that leaks water all over the floor and now won’t drain correct. That one is out of warranty too. We don’t buy appliances often but rest assured when we get to buy a real house instead of renting we are going to look for a total home warranty.
If you added the cost to replace the faulty items in this house it could be near $2,000! I’m not a famous chef yet so I don’t have that kind of money. For me, what should be purchased by landlords who rent out houses, is a good Home Warranty Service. A home warranty is a service contract that covers the repair or replacement of many of the most frequently occurring breakdowns of home system components and appliances. Let me tell you, the furnace and well in this house alone SHOULD have had this service and been fixed a long time ago. A service like this can possibly make the repairs cheaper. Its not just house insurance its actual system warranties, for things like heating and cooling, roofing, regular maintenance parts of your home, that can be costly to repair or replace. I know for me I am not buying a house without a total house warranty. I’m not messing with single warranties that just expire. I am going to be making my biggest investment when I buy my house so I am not taking chances, I will have it protected.
