I started making holiday Cranberry Sauce from scratch the same year I began my culinary journey, so that would be about 3 years 🙂 The recipe I use calls for cranberry wine, citrus, water and sugar. Just a few ingredients and some heat and you have a beautiful side dish that does not come from a can. In fact it is ten times better than the canned stuff if you ask me! The perfect mixture of tart with just a hint of sweet 🙂
- 1 lb. fresh cranberries
- 2 C. Water
- ⅓ bottle cranberry wine
- TBS each, zest of lemon and orange
- Juice of one orange
- 1 C. Sugar
- In a medium sauce pot or saute pan, combine all ingredients. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium simmer. Simmer until mixture reduces and the juices thicken a little. Remove from heat and transfer to dish. Sauce will thicken while standing.
