Stained Glass Cookies

Usually a Christmas staple, these cookies can actually be made to fit any occasion, it all depends on the color of your candies! The recipe is pretty much a straight sugar cookie recipe just the centers cut out and crushed candy put in! 🙂

Ingredients
  • 1½ C. Granulated white sugar
  • 1 C. Unsalted butter, room temp
  • 1 TSP. Vanilla extract
  • 2 Eggs, room temp
  • 2¾ C. flour
  • ½ TSP. Baking Powder
  • ¼ TSP salt
  • ½ C. crushed candies
Instructions
  1. Sift flour, salt and baking powder together in a bowl; set aside.
  2. Cream the sugar and butter together. Add eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla
  3. Preheat oven to 325ºF. Line baking sheets with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
  4. Add the flour mixture to the wet mixture ½ C. at a time until just mixed.
  5. Cover dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30-40 minutes or until chilled.
  6. Roll out dough on lightly floured surface and cut cookie shape. using small cookie cutters or Linzer cookie cutters, cut a shape from the middles.
  7. Transfer cookies to sheet, then sprinkle candy in the shape you cut out.
  8. Bake cookies for 8-11 minutes or until edges are light brown. Let the cookies cool on the sheet for a minute and then transfer them to the rack to cool completely. Store them in an airtight container.
