With all of the activities busy families do every day, it gets really easy to just gloss over a dinner and order out. There are those “just add” type of dinner kits but many of those contain more salt than you want or lack flavors. Okay they have flavors but come on, they are boring!! I know I am in the minority when it comes to wanting gourmet dinners because I’m a trained chef but at home, I am MOM and WIFE first and that includes needing time savers to help all that need me. Enter McCormick Skillet Sauces.
McCormick skillet sauces combine what you need to add to your meat of choice in a sauce form, not a powder, AND they kick it up a notch with flavors you don’t usually see in products that you add meat too. Here are the flavors:
Fajita with Roasted Chili, Garlic & Lime Skillet Sauce
Fire Roasted Garlic Chili Skillet Sauce
Sesame Chicken Stir-Fry Skillet Sauce
Sicilian Chicken with Tomato, Basil & Garlic Skillet Sauce
Smoky Applewood BBQ Chicken with Bacon Skillet Sauce
Sweet & Smoky Sloppy Joes Skillet Sauce
Taco with Chipotle & Garlic Skillet Sauce
I went to Walmart and looked for some sauces and decided on Sloppy Joe and BBQ chicken. I haven’t had hamburger in forever because of costs and I just don’t want it, so I bought a big log of turkey burger and some chicken.
For the chicken I followed the directions on the package because it sounded good and I love me some sweet bbq onion pieces so I left the recipe alone.
I made yukon potatoes to go with it and because I am fancy, I put the mashed potatoes in a mold and set the delicious chicken on top. Thank goodness the sauce was sticking to the meat well because it took a few takes! This flavor is WAY more than just BBQ sauce, the smoky notes and bacon all come at separate moments making this a savory and yummy flavor.
Damn…I really want to eat that… NOW.
For the Sloppy Joes I went a little off the recipe on the packet. Aside from swapping the hamburger for turkey burger I also added a little McCormick Applewood rub to add more of a smoky kick to the flavor and it was genius!
You can also get that at Walmart 😉
So here is what you need to make my Smoky Turkey Joes!
